Oklahoma issues Commercial Driver Licenses through Service Oklahoma, a division of the Department of Public Safety. The state follows federal CDL standards and uses the March 2025 edition of the Oklahoma CDL Driver Manual. How old do I have to be to get a CDL in Oklahoma?

You must be at least 18 to drive commercially within Oklahoma and 21 to drive across state lines or haul hazardous materials.

How many questions are on the Oklahoma General Knowledge CDL test?

The General Knowledge test has 50 multiple-choice questions. You must answer at least 40 correctly (80%) to pass.

How long must I hold the Commercial Learner Permit before testing?

Oklahoma follows the federal minimum of 14 days. You can take the skills test on the 15th day after your CLP is issued.
